3 Types of Indoor Window Blinds That Are Easy to Clean

Window blinds for indoor areas come in many styles. But one thing all indoor blinds have in common is that they are more versatile than curtains and drapes and are typically easier to manage and operate. One important aspect of indoor blinds is simplicity. Indoor blinds are easier to clean and maintain than curtains, but not all blinds are equal in this regard.

If you want blinds that are easy to clean, then the following styles of blinds will appeal to you.

1. Vertical blinds

As you'll already know from cleaning your home, dust settles most easily on horizontal surfaces like shelves and tabletops. In a busy household, dust can accumulate in a very short space of time. But choosing vertical blinds instead of horizontal blinds will help to keep dust at bay. With vertical blinds, you'll spend less time removing dust from the louvres than you would with Venetian blinds.

Opting for a smooth material like PVC or vinyl instead of cloth will make cleaning your blinds easier too. You'll only need to run a damp cloth along each slat every so often.

2. Roller blinds

Just as with vertical blinds, the vertical nature of roller blinds keeps dust from building up. And because roller blinds come in one sheet of material, they are probably the easiest form of blind to clean. You only need to run a damp cloth over the single surface to remove dirt. And a PVC surface will again be much easier to wipe down than a cloth surface.

3. Faux wood blinds

No matter what style of blind you go for, if you like the look of wooden blinds, consider opting for faux wood over real wood. The problem with wooden blinds in regards to cleaning is that, eventually, wooden blinds begin to warp when exposed to moisture. This reduces their lifespan.

Faux wood blinds like vinyl or PVC provide the same aesthetics as real wooden blinds, but faux wood materials won't warp over time when exposed to water. This means that in the long run, they are easier to clean and maintain.

By choosing one of these designs for your home's windows, you can cut down on the time you spend cleaning your window treatments. And you don't have to stick with just one style. You can combine all three of these types of blinds to complement your home's existing décor while keeping the need for cleaning to a minimum.
